A banda foi fundada em 1984 no Gama (uma cidade satélite de Brasília, DF). Seu primeiro lançamento foi em 1986, o split Ataque às Hordas do Poder, juntamente com BSB-H. ARD era conhecida pelo seu nome original: Stuhlzäpchen von N, ou “Supositório Nuclear” em alemão. Este foi o primeiro disco de hardcore do Centro-Oeste. Depois a banda mudou de nome pra A.R.D.
